Dr. Kandala Lupwana Jean –Jacques is a Research Associate at the Faculty of Law, University of Johannesburg.
Prior to that he held different positions both in the Government (South Africa) and International Organisations. He was appointed as an International Relations Advisor at the Department of Women, Youth and Peoples with Disability (DWYPD). He also support the office of the Legal Counsel of the Pan African Parliament during its sessions and committee’s meetings as an Assistant Legal Officer. Dr. Kandala has more than 10 years documented roof experience in working with various Non-Governmental Organizations, including the SADC Lawyers’ Association and Human Rights Institute of South Africa (HURISA). His areas of research include international criminal law, international human rights (international and regional systems for the promotion and protection of human rights), trade law, and international environmental law. His most recent researches deal with the principle of sustainable development under the new climate change agreement; State liability for the enforcement of customary international law and rules of human rights treaties (Sexual violence and victim’s reparations under international law); and the African Union and the new trade agreement.
